ILAS has been training art directors, designers, photographers and digital professionals in Naples since 1986. It is a private academy, accredited by Regione Campania.
Teaching at ILAS happens in equipped studios. Every student has an Apple workstation for the whole course — not shared, not booked by the hour. The ratio between teaching hours, teacher and students is kept deliberately low, because this is a craft that is learned by being corrected, one project at a time.
The year is built around briefs. You are given a problem, you work on it, and you present it to the class and to the teacher the way you would present it to a client. What comes out of those months is a portfolio, which is the only thing anybody will ask to see.

Art directors, copywriters, designers, photographers, developers and social media managers who work in the field, alongside university lecturers and Adobe-certified instructors. Each area has its own group of teachers, so you are taught advertising by people who make advertising.
Nobody at ILAS teaches full time only. What they bring into the studio is what they are doing for clients that same week.
Work is judged on whether it would survive outside the school. It is harsher than a mark, and far more useful.
Those same professionals are the first contact many students have with the studios and agencies they will work with.

ILAS is an accredited training body, code 00153/10/04. The region-authorised courses end with a professional qualification recognised across the European Union.
The management system is certified ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 45001 (health and safety at work).
ILAS is a member of AIAP, the Italian association for visual communication design.
The academy has a past as an Adobe and Autodesk authorised training centre and as a Pearson VUE, Certiport and EiPass testing centre.

Everything students produce during the year can be published in the ILAS portfolio: a public archive that has passed twenty thousand projects and that companies browse when they are looking for someone to hire.
Alongside it there is a placement service, which puts students and graduates in touch with agencies, studios and companies. ILAS does not promise anyone a job — nobody honestly can — but it makes sure the work is visible to the people who do the hiring.
